give me some whole souled food ;)

We’ve heard of Soul Food but Whole Souled Food?

After this last hospital stay I am even more intentional on making every area of my life clean. Starting with my heart but I want that to overflow into ALL parts of my life & my children’s.

I am feeling the need to unclutter so I can focus more on His calling and this season of life that I am entering into with less distraction of STUFF.  Anyone else feeling that way?  I think our country is heading into a mass upheaval in the years to come.  I’ve got a post coming on that soon.

I cleaned out my pantry on Monday. I set the timer for 30 minutes and began cleaning. That was it for the day.   30 minutes a day to a purged house. Having crohn’s/colitis and possibly having to be on Remicade the rest of my life has me a tad frantic about what I am putting into my body and what I could change to do my part to be the healthiest me. Here are a few meals I have been cooking this week.

Simple Thoughts

Pasta con Zucchini

Cooking with my Kid

this was a winner! very easy and good and sitting alongside was a Caesar salad from Costco. Yummy!  16 year old boy…thumbs up!

here is a picture of Lissa’s @ Humble Pie’s green beans, chicken & peanut sauce.  AND my picture of green beans:) very yummy!

I made all three and will make them again.  I used this chicken that Target now carries.  Tender and REAL chicken and it is wonderful!  No hormones, antibiotics….

real, whole, simple and good for your whole soul food!

I’m also on a hot tea kick. My sweet daughter Nikki bought this for me when I was in the hospital and my friend Linsey @ LLH Designs suggested lots of teas to me..she is a storehouse of healthy whole food information by the way…go visit her!  I am loving Rooibios! I use a little agave in it for sweetener or not….it is good either way.

just a little funny: Grace wanted to earn money so she made a list of things she could do for us.  One of the things was a pedi. Warning:  my feet are not ….well…pretty. When I was called for my appointment I sat down and the first thing she did was put Neosporin on her hands and rub them together and then rubbed my feet with it! I cracked up and so did my cracks…in my feet:)  Here is one of our new fav’s from Essie…Going Incognito

I am purging all of my cookbooks and rebuilding with whole food ones.  Any suggestions on your favorite whole real food cookbooks? I bought this one mainly because I liked a few of her Asian recipe’s.

Happy “Whole Soul Food” Friday ya’ll:)  What whole soul foods are you cookin up for the weekend?

Dear Monday…meet my friend Gabi

This is Gabi.  She is 9.  Through an ice skating injury causing a trip to the Dr. for a MRI, what was thought to be a stress fracture…showed that she has osteosarcoma. Our daughter’s went to the same gym for competitive gymnastics for over two years.

Cancer effects the whole family.  It doesn’t come as a choice as to whether we want it or not.  and it is scary.  I felt my heart wrung out for this family.  I’ve known them for over two years.  I think of each one.  I think of mom,who has 3 other girls.
Photobucket

I just want to share their story so we can wrap arms of flesh prayer around them.  I want them to know they will never walk alone.  That they are in the Shelter of Him and His people.  We are His people.  We are a called people. Called to love that is in deed and truth, not just in word and speech.

Sometimes we don’t know what to say or do when cancer comes into our lives in one form or another.

We all have a DEEP need to know we are not alone.  relationship with God or not.  human need.  and we can committ to walking the whole journey with someone.

Please don’t say: “I don’t know how you handle it, I just couldn’t do it!” What are we supposed to do, shrivel up and die because our child has cancer? We aren’t “handling” it because we are superior people, we simply have no choice. We have to protect our children. In fact maybe we are not “handling” it at all, it may be that we are a total emotional mess, but we have to save our kids so in the haze of hospital rooms and surgeries and toxic drugs put in our children’s veins we focus on the important facts that we have to know – like focussing on the taillights of the car in front of you as you drive through the fog. And we may have a smile on our face as we talk to you, but that doesn’t mean we don’t cry in the nights, it only means that we are trying to make you comfortable so that you will keep talking to us.

Click here to visit Gabi’s site. You may have to register first. Her mom tells me she loves reading her guest book. Gabi goes to the hospital on Tuesday for her first round of chemo. She will be in for four days. Would you please join us in lifting this family up in prayer as they begin this journey? this is hard eucharisteo…thanking Him for blogging and the way God knits hearts and lives together and that we can pray for one another. Let us, today, attempt great things for God; take His faith and believe for them and His strength to accomplish them…from Days of Heaven on Earth.

dear monday…2 series & a project…a winner

Plough deep in us, great Lord, heavenly husbandman, that our being may be a tilled field, the roots of grace spreading far and wide, until Thou alone art seen in us, Thy beauty golden like summer harvest, Thy fruitfulness as autumn plenty…from valley of vision puritan prayers

a-ladys-findings:

As I lay here being receptive to His grace I am asking “how do I begin to weave this together in story so that I can pick beauty from the harvest for myself and even more so… for others?” O Daddy we come with buckets in hands swinging to pick the first fruits from your fields. Ever so humbly I step and share the ground layout with you..as our husbandman takes us from this crossroad to the end of our journey time.

I am going to introduce two series & one Project here at The House of Belonging.

  • The first series I will introduce tomorrow. It will be once a week.  It will have some helpful printable’s and such along the way.  As we learn to live in the depths but see You in the heights as we seek You for whole-souled-ness.

  • Not all marriages are or can be… restored …then what? It maybe a once a month or bi/weekly to start out.  It will start out with personal history, books and people giving a little ground work to the present day.  With as much privacy as I can so it will mostly be from my perspective.  Much of the whole-souled-ness work will then go into the marriage series.

  • The third project…not so much a series, will be placed however God leads.  I am a little girl who has a secret that I can’t wait to share.  I will spill the beans next Wednesday:)

This will also benefit women who yearn for the deep waters of whole-souled-ness.

Word women Wednesday with Becky@Farmgirl Paints.  Have you checked out her cuffs?  I keep thinking when I can I’d like to have one that says Word woman or jumping naked…what would you like yours to say? Don’t forget we will also have a linkup.  A place to share your heart and art in the form of a post ( maybe a hint for a writing prompt?) that will light a fire under the souls of women to walk in their calling.  I think Miss Becky’s words will light a fire in your heart!

**I will attach the winner of the Word women sign later this afternoon.  I’m still in the hospital and my daughter is the smart one so she is going to do it for me on her lunch hour**

a prayer for us…May our desires be enlarged and our hopes emboldened, that we may honour Thee by our entire dependency and the greatness of our expectation…valley of vision

hairballs and easter

yesterday I picked my acrylic off my nails..I’m going without that little indulgence for awhile.  For me – right now..it is unnecessary.

Simplify..yes Father

I’ve been in what I slept in all day.  I think on Him often today..a  ” I love you” here and ” help me ” there.

I cleaned out my 16 year old son’s room and retrieved 3 trash bags of Dr. Pepper cans he has been ” collecting” for a tower.

then went to vacuum his newly cleaned room by me…and the vacuum was clogged.  With guess what?  tons of dog hair…way yuck! but the room is clean and the sheets smell good… thank you for the strength to clean.

moved my desk around and opened the window beside it…it is almost 70 here today!   thank you for warm weather.

did lots of laundry…spent time outside with Him today ( do you ever do that…sit with Him outside?) Sitting in the sun watching Bella and Grace play…hearing the airplane high in the sky.  Thank you for the hearing.

I made some Annie’s mac & cheese for lunch and watched a little Ina Garten…{ her Big Breakfast link;)  confession:  we caved and got the next step up…from basic cable.  I was momentarily happy watching Food Network…I know….sad.

BUT

I am inspired to have an Easter ” Big Breakfast “. I thought it was time for the family to get together again and I want to cook!

Are thinking of getting your family together for Easter?  I know it is early still… If so – what are you thinking for food?  Ideas:)  Sometimes life gets well…consumed.  Today…I just unraveled a little…because He is there for us in the tiniest ways…nothing is to small to enjoy with Him.

There may come a day when we are less and less able to participate in life and we find ourselves mostly just watching…live today  in whatever capacity you are able.  Remember with me how much we are treasured.

XO,

are you ready for some hard knee time?

Can the American family be saved? I asked that question.  I believe the first answer to that question is prayer.  I don’t just think a quick hey God…is what is needful.  I believe it is the offering of intentional pouring out our hearts..wrapped in gratitude until….until.  I am convicted & challenged and I believe God is calling this mom to do some hard knee time on behalf of her sons.  Will you join us at the altar for 21 days and share what our God is going to do in the lives of our sons?

April 1, 2011 – April 29, 2011

Each Friday I will provide bloggers with an opportunity to link-up posts about how God is moving through the 21 Days of Prayer for Sons experience. But anyone, bloggers and non-bloggers alike can participate and share how God is working in their family by leaving comments throughout the challenge….Brooke McGlothlin

In the place of your fathers will be your sons;

You shall make them princes in all the earth.

Psalm 45:16

Won’t you kneel here and add your blog name to the Sign Up?
