‘one’ book that changed my life forever & a GIVEAWAY

a gift opened that immediately turned my heart cold..

how dare she?  I was offended but isn’t that how truth comes..like alcohol to an open wound

and we can do one of two things

open up and allow the cleansing even though it is painful

or

close ourselves up and let it continue to fester

thankfully the anger turned and I chose to open up

The very first tear he made was so deep that I thought it
had gone right into my heart.  And when ( Aslan) began to
tear the ski off, it hurt worse than anything I’ve ever felt.–C.S. Lewis

for me the tear came in this book and I can say this only in hindsight.

I was taken to church by my dad and step mom at around age 9 and I still remember hearing God..knowing Him..believing Him

but as I grew up “church” mingled with the lies I believed about myself, others and even God.  Flesh and spirit battled and resulted in me

working myself to death in the church and learning to study with Kay Arthur’s Precept upon Precept.  I eventually taught Bible studies

and all of that knowledge I had in my head..most was not digested and allowed to give nutrients to my spirit.  You see I was a ravenous student..

I took every opportunity to learn.

I wanted to please my father..after all don’t you owe someone for saving your life?  loving you?  It just seemed natural to me.

God saved me somewhere along the way..I have a real relationship with Him..but I had a TON of UN learning to do and the purpose in the last decade are becoming

clearer.

You see…God just didn’t leave me to flounder ( even though I felt He had during this time ).  He heard the many prayers to change me O God..

Into that tear God poured Grace…and I’ve been learning about grace ever since.

The funny thing about this book is I have since re-read it three times over in the last 10 years or so.  I rarely do that.

Learning to take so much truth in and then learn it..live it before moving on.

Last week I saw it laying there and I knew

the spirit was nudging me to pick it up and I did and do you know what I turned to?

yeah…the Aslan quote…and that deep sob stuck in my chest…and wouldn’t come out.  I knew there was more to uncover..more that God is going to show

me about myself.  More freedom coming…more grace but I was a little reluctant to submit.  It ALWAYS hurts to hear truth about yourself.  It is ALWAYS

easy to tell someone else the truth about them isn’t it….yuck!

but in the end I am submitting because I truly want more freedom…I want to grow.  I am learning to be ok with my weaknesses.  I have a lot of them but

God is soooo lovingly showing me that it is in my weaknesses that I find Him.  I’ve known that for years but really experiencing it so that I come away different…

to where I handle life circumstances different…THIS is what beckons me on..to keep chasing hard after Him.  His hands on my shoulders yesterday letting me know
I was ok..even when life hits a few bumps..makes all the difference in the world.

Truly this book has peeled me like an onion…and I love Rose Marie’s story SO much that I want to share it with one of YOU!  I wish I could buy it for everyone!!  I do!

If you are tired of having the mindset of a spiritual orphan and would like to begin LIVING as a daughter of the King

please leave a comment sharing one of your “must have” makeup items.

I will announce the winner in Friday’s Post.

I’m going to leave you with one of my favorite country songs right now:)  Wanted by Hunter Hayes…

our dining room {1×12 boards turned rustic shelving}

Our little dining room is a lot like me..it has been undergoing lots of changes in the last year…heart and home…you see?  they do connect..wink

It started out like this

to this

then to this

and then…

and over the weekend to this…and we LOOOOOve it!

I couldn’t wait to show you..now it is not perfectly filled up with perfectly placed vignettes

but I am tired of dragging my feet so I am doing what The Nester says and taking it to heart

It doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful!   can I hear an Amen?

I had four 1×12′s leftover from making mason jar chandelier’s..all I had to buy was brackets…which honestly were more expensive than

I thought they’d be…geesh!  8 bucks each!

The hardest part was deciding on what bracket to use…did I want to go industrial or corbels?

I went with these brackets cause they matched the door handles and honestly it was all they had that I even semi loved at Home Depot.

Lissa’s was my inspiration..with the warm wood and white.  One of my favorite looks if I do say so.

I mixed some Early American and Jacobean to take some of the red out of the Early American…don’t know if you can do that

but I did and nothing bad happened…

The green dresser filled the spot for a short while but we are all giddy about our shelves over here at the House of Belonging…

we stop and just stare..and smile and say…I really like that!  no wait..LOVE that:)

Now I have a place to put my white dishes I am obsessed about now

I know I’m going to need more shelves soon…

Grace loved them so much she framed a picture of herself and snuck it up there with Nikki and I thinking

the other did it…neither of us had the heart to say…that doesn’t really go there

and then laughed like crazy when Grace quietly giggled.

That’s our Grace…

(this sweet sign is available to purchase in the shop)

but on a serious note…stop dragging your pretty little feet and just START!

One area..one thing..it doesn’t have to be perfect…

the only thing that matters is you are making your home beautiful for YOU and YOUR family.

now go get some chips and guacamole for me will ya?

trees really do smile:) a fall homecoming

I am immensely enjoying living a wee bit vicariously through miss Grace.

She is full of sunshine and smiles..always.

I don’t ever wake up one day and not thank God for where we are at as a family right now.  The decision Grace made was hard.

It was a little lesson that will be a an adult lesson someday if you live your life brave and go down the road less traveled..you will face giants of all shapes

and sizes and this was in Grace’s worlda giant.

God answered our prayer in a very real and big way.  Grace is thriving!  She has a posse of sweet girls who I am coming to love.  They all came for a visit

last Friday to get ready for Homecoming. ( makeup, perfume, hairspray oh my!!)

DO you remember your homecoming?

..football games, school colors, parades, friends, staying up late..it just says fall doesn’t it?

I am forever thankful for this answer to prayer.  That her smile is for the first time in years…genuine.

I know that smiles hide many things and can be deceiving can’t they…even for children.  They learn to play pretend at very young ages.

One of my deepest desires and I know yours as well…is to see your children thrive and if your anything like me – you would run to the moon and back to

do whatever you had to..to make that happen.  Sometimes answered prayer isn’t always the yes we are praying for…I’ve had more no’s and waits than I can

even count…but this yesI treasure.

I am again reminded that God is still the God in Isaiah..verse 10
Are you not the same today, the one who dried up the sea, making a path of escape when you saved your people?

This was a good day.
