Grace’s little makeover before 7th grade

hello hello all:)  We are back from vacation and took a few days to do some catching up.  How have you been??  I’ve missed you all.

Have you been pounding the pavement of Target, Wal-Mart and every store in between?

The hardest part at least for me..

is getting back into “routine”.  I am so not a morning up and at em’ person.  Are you?

To celebrate Grace turning 13 last week Nikki and I took her to Ulta the night before school to let them do a little makeover on her.

Bonus was she got to spend her gift card she got for her birthday.

I am all about sweetness…I want her to be confident in wearing makeup but not look to made up…does that make sense?

I want her to be confident in how she looks and applying makeup and at the same time encouraging her heart condition because

that is what really makes us girls pretty–is our heart.

She ended up choosing some Bare Minerals foundation.  It is easy to apply for young girls the girl told us.

She chose a Cabana makeup kit from Benefit…. mainly for the eyeshadow and the blush stain.

I like the blush stain on young girls because it is a natural bubble gummy pink.

She picked up some Lip Smackers chap stick in Ice Cream Cake too.

We..emphasis on we.. picked out  Butter’s Gobsmacked nail polish. { i like it for my toes }  and it is a  good Fall color.

We picked out all of her school supplies but not finding a zippered pencil bag she liked until

Grace scored this bag on the clearance rack at Target…perfect pencil bag!

Nikki and I heard at least 10 times...does this look ok?  is it to bright?

Another score at TJ Maxx…10 dollars…clearance.  SO for 15 dollars she got a fun albeit a little funky combo.

Had to be written in the stars. It was Grace to a tee.

Do you know what made my night was after we were all done shopping?  She looked at me and said…

” I feel for the first time that I am being who I am

That is the scary thing about first days…being who you are..we take a risk being vulnerable.. praying someone will like us for who we are.

Not what we look like..dress like..or what we have.

Our kids feel just like we do don’t they?

I can share with you all that my smile was ear to ear and at that moment that was all I needed to hear.

what about you and your kids?  is there anything you did with your kids as you prepared for the start of

this school year?  Do you have a memory of a time when you took a risk and were vulnerable? I would love to hear…

some fun changes will be happening around here so stay tuned..

Nikki made this little collage of the last 3 years…kinda fun seeing the changes:)

looking at our lives as unfolding stories…

a modern day wild adventure

A wild adventure....

via {critty joy}

what if we stepped back and viewed our lives much as that little boy who intently watches the ant carry a cracker

across the concrete with his new magnifying glass?

Just step back from our lives and observe them objectively.  Might this work better than how I am currently handling

what if we let the Author have free reign?

If one were writing or reading an adventure there would be lots of characters, setbacks, valley’s and mountains, joys and sorrow

but we always know that the plot is leading to the end of the book…the climax.  What happens?

there is a intent that the author is writing.

It is risky – I will give you that.  We do have to be vulnerable because we may…we will get hurt.

We have to be courageous because fear is begging to be our best friend

Persistence..fortitude..tenacity ALL will need to be tucked away in our survival kits.

But —  it might just open up a whole new world for us if we looked at our lives as unfolding stories

with plots brimming with twists and turns —  all written by the One who created our hearts and knows them more completely

than anyone.

As intricate and delicate with all content designed to change reshape us

If we could just get our heads around trust.  To trust God in life’s process with all of its beautiful messy allowing

our ugliest moments to become our crown jewel-

we might just have a best selling modern day adventure story….

I am sitting down by the lake as you are be reading this…for 5 days…deeep sigh:)

While I am here I am seeking God’s heart.

When I return– I am anticipating the next chapter of my adventure that is unfolding.

I can’t wait to share it with each of you.

From this day forward if we daily would lift our hearts and hands..our Him that He may write our

own unique ‘best selling’ biography’s.

Let’s be modern day adventurer’s together…will you come with me?

Let’s bring back a by gone era…one story at a time.

instagram apps:favorite things:blogs & full plates

Hi – I’m Tiffini and I am over extended.  I pile to much on my plate and don’t practice the word no enough and when I do I literally feel like the sky is really going to fall..on me.

From experience when you do say no to some people the sky really does rumble a little doesn’t it?  The happy thought of the day is — that I now know when this is taking place within my

little head — and I know it is a season.  While you can fool most people it is hard to fool yourself.  I know.  We girls know don’t we?  I am getting some last minute orders wrapped up..packing..getting the oil changed

you know..all the stuff we do before we leave for a VACATION….the Lord willing I can tackle this mountain.  I will leave you with some photos & links from the last several days of some of

my favorite things.

If you are gettin me with the over extended and putting on the happy face mask…just nod your head and say a prayer for me.  Send me a quick little note and I will say one for you..wink wink

hope your weekend was sooo lazy and you did absolutely nothing but lay in bed..giggled and played with your kids..ate real good for you food..went to the park..or walked

for hours holding hands and dreaming dreams….

Do you Instagram?

Here are a few new apps I got and thought I’d share them with you..

Cooking with my Kid {back to school lunch time}

Some of my favorite things this last week…

lucky to find this little saved from the trash piece with some fabric on the sides and nicely distressed.

Grace had to have it for her side table.

If I had 12′ ceilings I would buy this little beauty.  Can’t you see it on a wall?

i so badly love this…it would be perfect on my imaginary screened in porch wouldn’t it?

this was in my good neighbor Dale’s

I don’t know what I would do with all of these rolls of burlap…Christmas tree perhaps?

I just wanted them…

I don’t know what this is but I LOVE it.  I want it.  I don’t need it but I ever so much want it……

We locked eyes immediately .. these chairs and I.  They were just a tad out of my budget but they are

color happy aren’t they?

Now when we met…I knew.  Feminine..farmy in its own way and I would say FUN..wouldn’t you?

I bought it for above my dining room table.

these two stinkers visited me Sunday morning with their brother .. who I didn’t get to snap a picture of.

we wanted to see each other before grandma left for the lake.  They always come see me on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Last Sunday Reed asked me how many sleeps till he sees me and when we said 11 he said, ” I don’t think I can do 11!”

that is when we made arrangements for them to visit before I leave. get that off my heart..knowing you would understand that sometimes we girls just need to vent.

and because I have all kinds of dreams that are piling up that will be coming out just as soon as we unpack from

vacation…or that is the goal anyway…xoxotiff
