Weekend Christmas Scavenger Hunt…wanna join?

SCAVENGER -  somebody who seeks or looks through discarded items in the hope of finding something usable { isn’t that a cool definition? }

Necessity is the mother of invention right?

What do YOU do when life isn’t the way you thought it would be at the holiday?
well here is what I am doing
IN REAL life the floor really does drop out from under you…often unexpectedly…through no fault of your own…you find yourself in the middle of Christmas…with kiddos…no money…and we really know Christmas is not about the gifts…and skin and heart wrestle…lots of sweat and tears…moments of insanity
the heart wins

Time is ticking … only 7 more days till Christmas { your welcome:) }
I have
let’s turn our frown upside down and put on our thinking caps shall we?

it can defeat me and spiral me into a depression
it can challenge my creativity ( I”m choosing the later with MUCH humbleness )
OK. ENOUGH of that and on to the fun stuff
AND here is what popped in my mind
ENTER the Weekend Christmas Scavenger HUNT idea

GO TO THRIFT STORES-closets-basements
attics-tool sheds..wherever you store “stuff”
 give gifts that cost little to no money
have to be hand much as possible

and we have one weekend
{ discuss and make your own mission }
they don’t have to be anything alike:)
picture frames
old vintage jar
treasure box
heart moving quotes…or words moved for each person
use felt around house to make lots of flower pins
things around house I don’t need….others would love
{ insert your own list }

Mom I have always wanted a Keurig…how about you give me yours and I give you something you’ve always wanted of mine…kinda like that?;););)
If anyone watches Kendra I would LOVE to insert a soundclip of her laugh right about here!

We’ve come up with some really neat ideas I can’t wait to share
Happy Searching!

mask hangs heavy…part 2

when the mask hangs heavy….maybe I will choose to put it back down

this to action
may you find some comfort here

There remaineth, therefore, a rest to the people of God.” – Hebrews 4:9
An eminent Christian worker tells of his mother who was a very anxious and troubled Christian. He would talk with her by the hour trying to convince her of the sinfulness of fretting, but to no avail.  She was like the old lady who once said she had suffered so much, especially from the troubles that never came. But one morning the mother cam down to breakfast wreathed in smiles. He asked her what had happened, and she told him that in the night she had a dream.
She was walking along a highway with a great crowd of people who seemed so tired and burdened. They were nearly all carrying little black bundles, and she noticed that there were numerous repulsive looking beings which she thought were demons dropping these black bundles for the people to pick up and carry.
Like the rest, she too had her needless load, and was weighed down with the devil’s bundles.  Looking up, after a while, she saw a Man with a bright and loving face, passing hither and thither through the crowd, and comforting the people.
At last he came near her, and she saw that it was her Saviour. She looked up {3}and told Him how tired she was, and He smiled sadly and said:
“My dear child, I did not give you these loads; you have no need of them. They are the devil’s burdens and they are wearing out your life. Just drop {1} them; refuse {2}to touch them with one of your fingers and you will find the path easy and you will be as if borne on eagle’s wings.”
He touched her hand, and lo, peace and joy thrilled her frame and, flinging down her burden, she was about to throw herself at His feet in joyful thanksgiving, when suddenly she awoke and found that all her cares were gone. From that day to the close of her life she was the most cheerful and happy member of the household.
And the night shall be filled with music, And the cares that infest the day, Shall fold their tents like the Arabs, And as silently steal away.” – Longfellow

I go in and out of “rooms”
this time of year

snowman kids holiday party ideas

my life feels totally different
While my being is in this season my
heart is a million miles away
going through the motions

I begin strong…certain I am trusting
standing strong against the personal assuage of questions and doubts
daily walking…eggshells softly crunch beneath my feet
my reserves have long ago been used
I have nothing left to give
the day goes much like the last
snowman kids holiday party ideas
I pretend some…still
it is how I can cope
that is ok…a little
my reality is very real

when I laid down to sleep…it ran away from me
I rolled over to look
into those knowing pools of blue
while she spoke words she should not ever have to
not about a daddy
in my heart anyways

a daddy
that was my heart dream for them
I did what I thought was good…right
only to be
roused from a nightmare years later
am I doing the God thing this time?
when I am written…manipulated that God doesn’t want our marriage to end?
Am I listening?

We all have a dream when we were little girls
I did
she does…what if all I lived with was for nothing
and they end up reliving in others the very
same thing I tried to keep them from

what if the poison has spread too much already
is there an antidote
I can give them?
their mommy is a prisoner of war
everyone’s prison house looks different I think
the effects much the same
maybe I’m addicted to the pain I ask
why would a mommy stay and circle and circle…again and again?
snowman kids holiday party ideas
long silence
I look down at the little girl who is trusting me with her pools of blue
and it comes…in bits…in pieces
you long to be set free
whole world shattered and your
dreams just fall apart
lift up your voice
let HIM hear your cry
when you’ve got nothing left to hold onto
every broken piece will be made whole
snowman kids holiday party ideas

maybe I am still grieving me…the little girl who was a prisoner
to other choices out of her control
and I looked into my eyes and I wept
she needed me to take care of her
to show her she can be set free and let her rest once and for all
so I scooped her up
He pulled us close to HIS heart
and he spoke to me
snowman kids holiday party ideas
I am moving…CHANGE is in the air
it is in the noticing…NOTICE
trust ME
I am a SAFE place
don’t listen to the LIES
there is a plan unfolding

I know where we are going and I am carrying you
relax in my arms…I’m holding your family too
I’ve held the lies in soooo long
carried guilt and shame
lived miserable…on the inside
My mask hangs heavy on my face
as HE walks
I’m tired of worrying

Life continues…

to go on…
and it will go on without us if we don’t choose to
why not BE in it
This last weekend I chose to stop striving – asking – trying to understand
and just ENJOY
what one never knows could
be the last breath you take
and I am not going allowing that unhealthy mindset to poison my life any more!

I baked cookies…and then BAKED some more cookies

I DIDN’T clean…
I didn’t do laundry
I looked all around me at the strung out mess from
room to room
and { I acknowledged it and said I would get to it another time }
guess what?  the family didn’t even care!

I watched a friendship grow

I love her mischievous eyes here…

enjoyed Grace re-telling  the church Christmas play
I went to church
got a Bible study…Beth Moore’s Breaking Free" />

went to a cookie exchange where I had not seen this side of the family
for over 20 years…uncomfortable? you bet…did it anyway
{{ I got to catch up with my sister there though!! }}

enjoyed our first snow

watched White Christmas { gosh that girl is skinny }
drank hot chocolate my new favorite way
enjoyed my nephew playing with my hair

grieved over Grace’s decision to quit gymnastics { after 3.5 years }
watched her condition
a ” remember ”  picture of her calloused hands from working bars
but happy with her choice to pursue dance
{ more on that later }

it was MORE than doing these things
It was my heart and soul relishing in them as if it were
permissible even desirable to ENJOY life

I pray you - too
have more and more times of being present
than just going through the motions
rushing from here to there
worrying about impressing who knows WHO
just stopping and seeing if the whole universe ends

because you permit yourself to ENJOY who and what
God has placed around you.

enjoying today…what about you?:)
I appreciate and cherish all of you that read my struggle
and are so supportive
I am thinking there have been prayers
because I can tell a difference
Someday I want to share a victorious story with all of you

excited to share today with Jen and the girls at
Finding Heaven Today
