{Spontaneous} Campfire Family Fun

Everything can be falling down around you and no one would ever know.  Their hearts know and I want to keep them from breaking…in the middle of this week’s battle

Here is what I did….

 {Supplies}

Improvisational ( is this a word?)  attitude { use what you have }
No duraflame logs –  so I bought a bundle of firewood
No fire pit – but I had a BBQ Grill
Homemade Hot Cocoa…thanks Jane:)  Recipe below

Any kind of candlelight { I made these }
Chairs and Blankets

Laughter
Please share some of your spontaneous family fun moments in the comments below…I’d love some ideas
The only thing she was sad about was - there were no smore’s:(

Back deck setup…is this lame or what?:)
Ingredients…Jane says to add a touch of cinnamon..I added when I added the vanilla
My Mason Jar luminaries….I had several lit
I compared calories and had to share…35 calories for Unsweetened Almond and 120 for 2%  WOW!
It was sweet with the sugar so they didn’t notice it was Almond Milk…sneaky
The flash kept blinding her so she smiled with her eyes closed…silly girl
The smile was ALL worth it
Even 16 year old brother joined us – No Pictures MOM!
He started the log for me…I HIGHLY recommend the Duraflame logs though

RE~SHARING…pass it on to encourage:)

I was mulling over what to post today
then I was on my Windows Live where over a year ago I started a blog ( with about 4 posts:)
Windows is now wanting us to upgrade to WordPress – so I went over to take a look…it had been months! at this blog

THIS POST was on there from The Lettered Cottage…I remember how it made me cry that morning
ONE of those things my heart needed to hear…and still does.
I think it goes right along with my Intentionally Brave undertones
AND EVERY WOMAN should have these things
DON’T you THINK?

IT IS WORTH RE~SHARING…ENJOY
BTW…my favorite line is also ” where to go when your soul needs soothing”
next would be ” when to try harder and when to walk away”
What’s Yours?

{ sorry it is loading crooked…ugh }
………………………………………………

Enough money within her control to move out and rent a place of her own, even if she never wants to or needs to.

Something perfect to wear if the employer, or date of her dreams, wants to see her in an hour.

A youth she’s content to leave behind.

A past juicy enough that she’s looking forward to retelling it in her old age.

A set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra.

One friend who always makes her laugh…

…and one who lets her cry.

A good piece of furniture, not previously owned by anyone else in her family.

Eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems, and a recipe for a meal that will make her guests feel honored.

A feeling of control over her destiny.

How to fall in love without losing herself.

How to quit a job, break up with a lover, and confront a friend without ruining the friendship.

When to try harder…and when to walk away.

That she can’t change the length of her calves, the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents.

That her childhood may not have been perfect…but it’s over.

What she would and wouldn’t do for love.

How to live alone…even if she doesn’t like it.

Whom she can trust, whom she can’t, and why she shouldn’t take it personally.

Where to go when her soul needs soothing; be it to her best friend’s kitchen table, or a charming Inn in the woods.

What she can and can’t accomplish in a day…a month…a year.

YOU are what YOU read

The BlogFrog Community over at {in}courage had a discussion about “ What books are you reading?”  It is one of the biggest discussions going in that community right now!
{ AND THEN }
I happened on a post onBlogHer on how to be a better writer ~ was to be an avid reader.
“Reading is the single most important activity that leads to better writing. In fact, it’s just as crucial as actually writing. So, let’s talk about why it’s essential for writers to read as much as possible.”

quoted from websiteWriting Forward

IS SOMEONE trying to tell me something?:)  I’ve always been a reader but I am busier than ever with raising a family, being the wife an you know – yada yada….

I’ve always had a secret obsession to be a “writer” but some of my choices in high school put a halt to fulfilling those dreams….and here we are 23 years later.
{ didn’t finish High School, did get GED years later, one English Class in the 12 credits I went to college for and didn’t get good English grades in High School! } So WHAT UP with that??
What am I going to do then?
{1}  Set a goal to read 5 books by the end of the year
{2}  Start taking classes on writing
{3}  Participate in blogs that are in a writing niche.  I am joining MamaKat at Mama’s Losin It  in her writing prompts.  Ask for constructive criticism.
Here are the 5 books I am choosing

Full of beautiful, heart-wrenching, and hilarious stories, A Million Miles in a Thousand Years details one man’s opportunity to edit his life as if he were a character in a movie.

Writing to Change the World
Writing to Change the World is a beautiful paean to the trans formative power of words. Encapsulating Mary Pipher’s years as a writer and therapist, it features rousing commentary, personal anecdotes, memorable quotations, and stories of writers who have helped reshape society. It is a book that will shake up readers’ beliefs, expand their minds, and possibly even inspire them to make their own mark on the world.

Plan B: What Do You Do When God Doesn
What do you do with a shattered dream? Or an unmet expectation? What do you do when your life isn’t turning out the way you thought it would? What do you do when you have to turn to Plan B?
The Divine Conspiracy: Rediscovering Our Hidden Life In God
The Divine Conspiracy is a comprehensive, practical, meaty, challenging, and extremely helpful book which I pray will be widely read.

Dangerous Wonder (with Discussion Guide)
Recapture the joy of being a child and apply it to your relationship with God. Ask the difficult questions about faith, then just take Jesus at His word.

What about you?

To write “meaty” content – read “meaty” books

What meat { books }:-)are you chewing on lately?

and
are you reading with a purpose?

Mark Your Calendars ~ October 25

{ Intentionally Brave Mondays }What would happen if one woman told the truth about her life?  The world would split open
Muriel Rukeyser

::::: WHEN :::::

 { EVERY MONDAY }

Do you like beginnings?  Won’t you please join me for the genesis of Intentionally Brave Mondays here at my House?
Intentional meaning ~ done deliberately…purposefully…intended

I would like to take Mondays as the beginning of courageous choice…to intentionally set our minds for the week towards the myriad of unexpected moments coming our way – when a split second choice will be asked of each of us.  Will we do the hard thing by choosing bravery while fear is hanging on?  or will be fear win again?  Sometimes fear does win..that is life.  It is in these moments that I would like to visit and share.
On Mondays I will share my perpetual climb of brokenness to being intentionally brave…saying goodbye to the fearful little girl – to becoming the grown woman I so imagine myself to be.  Being the daughter He knows me to be ~ instead of the orphan I’ve always believed I was.
Often times hearing others helps us to keep going…I can’t even begin to tell you all of the ways others story has encouraged me…kept me climbing…even when I’ve had to stop and rest awhile…we learn that we are not alone…  Here there is no judgement  –  just a place where our humanness…our femininity if you will… meets with the Daddy of grace.

Anything that you have been fearful of or in and chosen to be brave…could be changing the paint color in  your kitchen to how you are dealing with health issues to the challenges of raising children.  There are no boxes here:)  From the giants to the ants.  You can post a picture, share a story, write a poem or a song.
ALL of life encompasses different aspects of bravery…each is applicable:)  There is no right or wrong way…no ” not enoughs ”  YEAH:)
It can be one word…or 1000 words
I will read and treasure each one
Please share funny things as well…simple things…there are NO rules:) { except to share grace with one another realizing all circumstances are unique } :)  It doesn’t have to be all SERIOUS…or it can be serious…please..I invite you to just be your authentic selves:)
Share a fear you may struggle with and the way you are overcoming that in your daily life.  Each day we are presented the the choice of following fear or following bravery..
which will you choose?
::::::HOW::::::
Every Monday
.
.
just add the direct URL to your { specific } Intentionally Brave post… and if you join us, I ask that you please help us find each other by linking back to this blog or sharing the Intentionally Brave button in your post somewhere please:) and thank you!

If you don’t have a blog and would like to share your story in the comments section that would be perfectly wonderful as well:)

:::::: WHO ::::::
YOU silly !!

I look forward to Intentionally Chasing Bravery with you
